After a long cold and wet winter, spring is finally in the air! No doubt the winter rains have given you a well-deserved rest from regularly watering your lawn, but now it is probably not looking its absolute best. To help spring your lawn back to life, we have compiled an easy checklist just for you – it’s so simple you can complete it in a weekend!
- Mow. Wipe the dust off your lawn mower and give your lawn a nice, hard mow. Don’t be scared to mow too low – this is the one time we allow a short haircut! Leave the catcher on to collect all those clippings.
- Fertilise. Your lawn has just survived a hard, cold and possibly frosty winter, so why not treat it with some healthy lawn food?
- Water. Increase the water as the temperature increases. We recommend two heavy waterings per week at this stage to encourage new leaf growth.
- Top dress. This helps to repair and rejuvenate your lawn, as well as evening out any bumps or uneven patches. River sand is the best soil to use for the job and can be applied with the back of a rake.
And there you have it, 4 secrets to a beautiful spring lawn the whole family can enjoy. If weeds have been a problem over winter, now is also the time to tackle them. For further information, please give us a call and we would love to help you achieve a lawn you’ll love!
