Synthetic grass certainly has it’s place, but it’s not on the sports field. A press release from Turf Australia explains the dangers of synthetic turf to players as well as how it affects the environment.
Synthetic turf increases the risk of injury for sporting players as it doesn’t have a cushioning affect and heats up much more than natural grass. Some councils are considering laying their sporting fields with synthetic turf, however they won’t necessarily save on maintenance costs in the long term.
